Pre-announcement: up coming matchmaking workshops CoCooN

The Directorate General of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) will organise matchmaking workshops in Africa, Asia and South America around the late 2009 summer period. More detailed information on these meetings will be published soon on this website.
Stakeholders from South and North, stakeholders from governmental organisations, NGO’s or private partners and scientific communities are invited to substantiate and enlarge their networks, to establish consortia and to initiate joint elaboration of Integrated Project applications.
The workshops will include:
- Presentions on ongoing NGO-CSO - private sector -governmental – research initiatives;
- Work sessions on:
- Burning geographical issues,
- The three themes: a. Conflicts, land rights and land-use change, b. Water resources, conflict and cooperation and c. Resource exploitation, global trade and conflict and
- Key features of the CoCooN Programme: e.g. making existing knowledge available, learning, stakeholder engagement, consortia building, networking
- Side-events: markets, dating, informal events
Applicants are expected to motivate their interest and play an active role during the workshop.
Travel grants
There will be a limited budget for travel grants available to participate in one of the workshops. The travel grant will amount to a maximum of € 2.000 / person, including economy class air fair and local accommodation. A budget of € 90.000 is available for the travel grants.
The call for travel grant proposals will be issued at the end of May. The deadline for submitting applications is early July 2009.
