Internationalisation
NWO strategy and policyScience is a champions league. For this reason, NWO facilitates knowledge exchange and mobility, and is active in numerous international networks and programmes. Holding the lead requires working together and searching out the competition. For assessing research projects, NWO consults renowned peer reviewers in the entire world. Together, they form the best safeguard for the highest possible standards. Researchers from the Netherlands and abroad may apply for a wide range of (international) subsidies.
NWO's activities in the field of international cooperation are resulting in fruitful relations, concrete research programmes and projects, (access to) infrastructural facilities, chances for mobility, and involvement of knowledge institutions and the business world. Cooperation is worldwide, though at present most takes place in Europe.
WOTRO policy
WOTRO funds research that is geared towards development problems. This entails enhancement of international research partnerships involving researchers from developing countries. In this way internationalisation contributes to sustainable development and to strengthening of research capacity in all countries involved. The Subsidy Guide of WOTRO can be consulted for information on calls for proposals or read more about the WOTRO projects and programmes.
WOTRO strives to build strategic partnerships with other research funders in order to broaden and enhance international partnerships, increase access of developing country researchers to relevant funding schemes and to contribute to harmonisation of efforts of research funders.
Information on international programmes and networks in which WOTRO participates can be found here.
